Frequently asked questions

How much does APBMA membership cost?

Fees depend on the membership grade, your region and whether you pay monthly or yearly. Student: $1 to $3 a month, or $6 to $30 a year; Associate: $2 to $6 a month, or $10 to $50 a year; Fellow: $3 to $8 a month, or $14 to $70 a year; Chartered Fellow: $4 to $12 a month, or $30 to $150 a year; Corporate: $100 to $500 a year. Associate, Fellow and Chartered Fellow members can also join free through the O*NET programme. Companion membership is by invitation only, and its fee, if any, is stated in the invitation. The join page shows the exact price for your region.

How do I choose the right APBMA membership level?

Choose the grade that matches your education and experience. New graduates and final-year students of business-related degrees or qualifications should look at Student membership. Over 5 years’ experience and a degree-level or equivalent qualification fits Associate. Over 12 years (8 at strategic level) fits Fellow, and over 15 years (10 at strategic level) fits Chartered Fellow. Organizations should look at Corporate membership.

Can I join APBMA if I have more than five years of professional experience?

Yes. People with over 5 years’ experience in the field and a degree-level or equivalent qualification can join as an Associate member.

Is there a professional membership for someone with more than 10 years of business analysis experience?

Yes, but it depends on how long you have worked in the field. Over 5 years’ experience with a degree-level or equivalent qualification fits Associate. Fellow needs over 12 years, at least 8 at a strategic level, and Chartered Fellow needs over 15 years, at least 10 at a strategic level. With 10 or 11 years’ experience, Associate is the grade to apply for.

Can a company join APBMA rather than having every employee join individually?

Yes. Corporate membership is for organizations that want their employees to benefit from APBMA training programs and recognition, and it includes discounted training for all employees.
